At the turn of the century a gentleman was a "lady's cavalier" in other words, it was his pleasant responsibility during the course of the ball to see to the lady's comfort and enjoyment during the evening. In recognizing a True Gentlemen, the way in which he tied his cravat revealed much about his social status.
"If they were tied incorrectly, or messily, the ladies wouldn't speak to you for the rest of the night at the ball," said Lois Riggins Ezell, Executive Director of Tennessee State Museum who hosts The Governor’s Tennessee Waltz every year.
No need to worry about your cravat for this event but be prepared for special guests to be there.
These Gentlemen will host a Cigars and Casino Night at Bluegrass Yacht and Country Club on Wednesday, November 4th from 6:30 until 9pm. Special invitations will be going out to invite "gentlemen" to join them as members of the committee. Each member of the Gentlemen's Committee will receive a commemorative pin featuring this year's logo and have his name and business listed on the HolidayFest website. The Gentlemen's Committee names will also be listed in the St. Nicholas Ball program, as well as have special seating at the American Idol Christmas Concert and be honored during the 27th Annual Hendersonville Christmas Parade.
